Microchipping

Rau Animal Hospital is pleased to offer microchipping services through HomeAgain. We believe that microchipping is one of the best ways you can ensure your pet’s safety.

Microchip identification is the most reliable way to reunite a lost pet with its owner. The microchipping procedure is safe, inexpensive, and practically painless. The microchip, which is no larger than a grain of rice, is simply injected into your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades with a syringe. Once inserted, the chip will remain there for the remainder of your pet’s life. Our staff will register your contact information with HomeAgain so that it will always be associated with the bar code contained on the chip.

If your pet becomes lost and is taken to an animal shelter or other animal care facility, a microchip scanner will be waved over his skin to see if a microchip is present. If a microchip is found, the lost pet is reported to a special hotline, and the owner is immediately contacted.
