A thorough physical examination is the foundation of your pet’s health. At Rau, we care as much as you do, and we take the time to learn about you and your pet at every preventative care visit.

During every wellness examination, our dedicated doctors listen to your pet’s heart and lungs, evaluate his or her vision, monitor for any unusual lumps, examine your pet’s teeth and oral cavity, and evaluate his or her joints for swelling and/or stiffness.

Your veterinarian may also recommend procedures, such as dental cleanings and/or diagnostic testing that may be appropriate to keep your pet healthy. These exams give us, and you, a complete picture of your pet’s health. Early detection of disease and other medical issues is critical!

We recommend annual physical exams for pets between the ages of 1-7 years old. However, semi-annual physical exams are recommended for senior pets, over the age of 7 years. Senior pets may require diet changes, supplements, and/or medication. It's important to detect changes as soon as possible to help maintain a long and healthy life for your pet.

Your pet’s preventative care visit will also include veterinary guidance regarding nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance. Rau maintains a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and specialty dietary food options to keep your pets happy and healthy all year long.
